Tatum Hodgson is a dedicated cellist and educator. As a registered Suzuki teacher since 2018, her private studio reflects her commitment to excellence and enjoyment in learning, believing that every child can develop high musical ability given excellent training. Tatum's teaching philosophy is influenced by her extensive Suzuki training, having completed all ten books with both Tanya Carey and Abbey Hansen, and group class training with Carey Beth Hockett.
As a performer, Tatum has attended music festivals all over the U.S. and Internationally on full fellowship, including Aspen Music Festival and School, Britt Festival Orchestra and the AIMS opera orchestra in Graz, Austria. She regularly performs and competes with her quartet, most recently earning first prize in the Glass City Chamber Music Competition. She is dedicated to lifelong professional development in her performance career and teaching
methods so that she can provide the highest-level training to her students.
Tatum received her B.M in Cello Performance with a minor in Suzuki Pedagogy from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied under Dr. Melissa Kraut. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree at Rice University with Desmond Hoebig and joins the Paganini School of Music Fall 2024.
