Felix Gamez holds a B.M. in violin performance from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music where he was on full scholarship and an M.M. in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy from Ithaca College where he served as a graduate assistant.
Mr. Gamez believes in a strong technical foundation and in cultivating valuable human skills through musical training. His students have won principal positions in the Texas Music Educator’s Association region and state orchestras and have scored superior ratings in the University Interscholastic League and New York State School Music Association contests. Mr. Gamez’s students have also performed and held principal positions in the Houston Youth Symphony and the American Festival for the Arts orchestra.
Mr. Gamez completed his long-term Suzuki training in violin books 1-8 with Carrie Reuning-Hummel, a pioneer of the Suzuki philosophy in the United States. Additional trainers have included Mark Mutter, Rolando Freitag, Cathy Lee, Kirsten Marshall, and Edward Kreitman.
